The current COVID-19 pandemic and the new wave of automation in manufacturing and services have made significant the importance of digital technologies in employment increasingly. Integrating digital skills into work processes and training has become a top priority. In fact, the lack of digital skills is holding back the economy of the European Union: 70% of companies declare that the lack of personnel with adequate digital skills represents an obstacle to investments.
To tackle this problem, the European Commission plans high-quality, inclusive and accessible digital education in Europe, with programs such as the Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027) requiring strong cooperation at the european level to make education and training systems suitable for the digital age.
In this regard, the European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA) has launched a new online training module on the importance of digitalisation in apprenticeships. It is the sixth in a series of training modules designed to provide information on apprenticeship systems in the EU.
In this module you will learn about:
- why it is necessary to digitize apprenticeships;
- how digitalisation in apprenticeships is planned and supported;
- how to digitize apprenticeships and make the most of them.
Through interactive materials, infographics and examples from different countries, it will be possible to explore the trends behind digitization and the benefits of using digital learning tools in apprenticeships. The module will allow you to learn about EU planning at national and regional level to support digitization. It will also provide an understanding of the types of digital tools available, as well as the challenges that may be faced in the future.
